If a team wants 5000 they get 5000, what's not to understand?

Re: Upton Park
To be fair, penners, that's why I think this season's improvement is probably the most important thing about the OS at present.

Rewind, and I'd have serious doubts about the whole thing. We were shit on the pitch & generally massively unattractive.

Pretty much every club that has made a success of moving has outgrown their existing stadium, and is on an upward trajectory.
A year ago, we weren't selling out without kids for a quid, giving away tickets, advertising in papers and lying about attendances - and were not improving.

If we can continue improving as we have over the summer, we stand a much better chance of making this work in the medium/long term. Honestly don't think we can overstate what a huge summer it was for us.

This is the thing, we've now gone full circle. A new stadium means better fanbase, more investment, higher league positions etc apparently. But nobody will tell me what will happen if we're struggling in the league and out of the cups at the first hurdle in our first season or two there. Apparently this stadium is going to GUARANTEE us success?

I'm still gutted you think that's happening every game after 5000 explainations bulph

I'm still gutted about giving away supporters a 5000 allocation...

Re: Upton Park
it will sell out the first season guaranteed

I cant see how it will be empty when we are in the champions league year on year?

Re: Upton Park
Buster......
Given the higher investment and profile etc... If we were right up there in the league and cups we'd be selling a lot more tickets than we do now, no?

Re: Upton Park

An inteligent football watcher will not be able to view the contest from an intelligible vantage point, in at least 40% of the area supposedly designed for spectators

In that case its perfect...60% of the 54K = 32,400. Which mean our real fans will be intellegant enough to sit in those area's, the remaining 40% will be the prawn sandwich, post 96ers and local schoolkids...plus a few posters on here!

Re: Upton Park
the current 'design' is crap...3 crap stands plus the east stand..basically crap...

surprised the atmosphere remains so good for certain games. mainly due to my singing, swearing and cartwheeling.

Out of interest, who told you that, 28 son?

Buster 2:24 Wed Oct 29
Re: Upton Park
Profile maybe, fanbase is debatable. We may sell out the first few games or months but I honestly cannot see us selling out 54k or whatever it is every other week once the novelty has worn off. I guess until we know how many tickets they're giving to the local muslims we won't know.

A multi billionaire taking over and buying a shortcut to success like City or Chelsea? Must admit I'm not sure how I'd feel about that to be honest. I'd be happy with challenging for the FA Cup and being a solid top 6 or 7 side.

Re: Upton Park
Buster, Ive been told we'll be in the champions league by the 2nd season. However as it currently looks like we are going to finish 4th this season, it appears we will be going into the OS as champions.

To be fair, as much I'm no fan of the athletics stadium, I think the important bit of the OS is happening this season.

Re: Upton Park
We are on the up (hopefully) as it is now for starters.

Once we move our profile increases, our fanbase increases, we make more money for various reasons all related to the move, we may get more investment and or new owners.

Didn't take City that long did it?

Buster 2:09 Wed Oct 29
Re: Upton Park
Really?

So how long will it take for us to be top 4 once we're in? Just so I can prepare myself.
